BKNIX receives an honor from Prof. Vijay Sivaraman to share his knowledge and experiences on the topic Traffic Analysis and Insights using Software Defined Networking via Vclass Conference during 3pm-4pm (ICT). To join the session please visit https://www.vclass.net/join.php?r=HPzYXy

Speaker: Prof. Vijay Sivaraman, Professor of Telecommunications at UNSW Sydney and CEO of Canopus Networks Pty Ltd

Abstract: Internet Service Providers, Enterprises, and Government Agencies are largely driving blind, with little visibility into application experience issues or cyber-security attacks in their networks. Custom-built middle-box hardware appliances for deep packet inspection (DPI) and cyber-threat mitigation remain prohibitively expensive. This talk will explore the emergence of commodity programmable hardware and associated software ecosystem in addressing this huge gap, by enabling deep insights and visibility at huge scale and low cost using a combination of software defined networking (SDN) and artificial intelligence (AI). Time permitting, a live demo and sample insights will be presented.

Biography: Vijay received his PhD at UCLA in 2000, worked at a silicon-valley start-up for 3 years building switch-router software, and is now a Professor at UNSW Sydney, as well as co-founder and CEO of Canopus Networks (www.canopusnet.com). He is a firm advocate of SDN and the agility and innovation it brings to network architectures, use-cases, and operations.
